just in case you wanted to know. where does all the money go?

Not many people realize just how expensive it is to adopt. Since we have been doing lots of fundraisers lately and asking for donation I figured now would be a wonderful time to show a break down of all the expenses. Many people have asked us "where does all the money go?" Hopefully, this will help people to understand better. You may find this exact table on the American World Adoption Agency website (awaa.org). APPLICATION & DOSSIER BUILDING
Application Fee $300
1st Installment of Program Fee $2,500
Home Study (varies by state) $1,200 - $2,500
Additional Home Study Documentation Prep. Fee (varies by process) $0 - $100
Home Study Visit Travel Fees (could include mileage, etc. based on current federal mileage rates)$0 - $200

Fees are based on national average and can vary. Fees may be subject to change without notice. All costs are estimated for the placement of one child. Please contact our office for estimates for multiple child placements.

•• Cost estimate for first year of post-placement reports only. In addition to reports during first year, annual reports prepared by the adoptive family will need to be translated and submitted every year until the child turns 18.

••• Families adopting 2 children will pay an additional half of the international program fee at the time of referral, equaling a total of $13,500. Includes the following expenses:
  • America World Development Project program fee
  • Child's medical exam(s)
  • Orphanage donation
  • Transitional child-rearing fee

  • Travel Coordination and Processing
  • Accommodations
  • Some Meals
  • Tour guides/Translators
  • In-country transportation

••••• There is an additional $720 Visa filing fee per each family adopting 2 or more unrelated children.
